Development and Events Manager

Summary of Function

Develop relationships to increase donations and work with the Executive Director and other staff to plan and implement fundraising events to advance the Exceptional mission and strategic plan. Part-time, reports to the Executive Director.

Essential Job Functions

Corporate and Personal Giving

  • Lead efforts to strategically identify and grow corporate partnerships.
  • Develop sponsorship packages for corporate donors for events or other sponsorship opportunities.
  • Create a Stewardship Strategy for donors, creating collateral and/or monthly contact with various types of donors: New donors, monthly/recurring donors, lapsed donors, and large donors. Can include calls, personal visits, tours, and other engagement opportunities by Associate or Executive Director
  • Develop, promote, and implement a monthly giving campaign.

Events

  • Work with Executive Director and other staff to produce fundraiser events, including spring golf tournament and fall/winter dances.

Grants and Foundations

  • Research new grant prospects whose funding priorities align with EF’s mission.
  • Ensure proposals are written in a professional and timely manner (build off EF boilerplates). Review all proposals with the Executive Director prior to submission.
  • Keep a spreadsheet of grants, due dates, contact info, date of application, project, and result.

Public Relations

  • Occasionally present to various organizations and groups about EF.
  • Develop speaking opportunities for Executive Director and/or Board Chairman.

Admin

  • Help develop grant revenue and expense budget, and operate within it. Submit invoices for payments in a timely manner.
  • Research, recommend, and implement CRM system.
  • Maintain accurate and updated files of EF’s development efforts, including real-time spreadsheets.
  • Submit monthly reports to Executive Director for inclusion in board reports.

Position May Include the Following

  • Performs related work as required by the Executive Director.
  • Occasional work at special events on nights and weekends, such as Exceptionally Festive Dance, Golf Tournament, or Bingo Nights, as well as development-related activities.
  • Attendance at granting seminars and info sessions; contact with other grant professionals for continuing education.

  • Computer skills to the degree necessary to complete assigned tasks, including familiarity with CRMs, Google apps, scheduling apps, Canva, social media apps, etc.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, able to shift styles to fit the needs of a wide range of cultures, people and organizations.
  • Love of continuous learning.
  • A great sense of humor and positive disposition.
